I've done a PSX thing!
I've been fascinated with the first Playstation since I can remeber, it was one of the things that got me into programming into the first place. I still remember wondering as a kid how possibly it displays all the images in Tomb Raider II while moving around. I first though that maybe it kind keeps an image of every place that the player can be, but after a short think through I realized that cannot be it. I also remember thinking playing Resident Evil 2 that the backgrounds were kinda low quality and that if the developers really wanted to they could make it look just like on TV (spoiler: they couldn't).
Now, understanding how it all works I wanted to give it a got so I've search the web and thanks to the incredibel work of people I'll never know I was able to figure out how to write software for PSX of my own.
It's not much, but I'm able to load a 3D model, display it, transform, light, and do all the basic necessities. In short, my brain-worm from the time when I played Tomb Raider II for the first time has been fed and it makes me feel happy. Check out the YouTube video for more details.
